William Annis Abbott
« on: Saturday 31 May 08 10:36 BST (UK) »

Hello.
Can anyone find the origins of this man please!  I've got very confused and overwhelmed with the no of William Abbotts from around England in the 19th century!!

What i know is that he was born c1866 possibly in Nottingham, Not'shire and possibly his parents were Annis Mann (bc1840) and George Abbott.

WAA md Emma Flintham, but i'm not sure if that was in Australia or just prior to them leaving.
I have subsequent family, focussing on their son Samuel Vincent Abbott who is my bil's grandfather.

Any clarification would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.
Regards
Julie

Hi Julie,

I can't see a birth right away ... There's this census record for a William born ca. 1866 Nottinghamshire.

1871
RG10/3548 77 25
Cropwell Butler, Nottinghamshire

Samuel Abbott, head, 43, Farmer of 220 acres empl 4 men 2 boys, b. Lowdham
Mary, wife, 34, b. Notts Tethby?
Fernhill, son, 7, b. Cropwell Butler
William, son, 5, b. do.
Annis M, dau, 4, b. do.
Sam, son, 2, b. do.
John H, son, 7 mo, b. do.
+ 3 servants

Posting it because the sister is called Annis, eventhough the parents are wrong. (Marriage Jun 1863 Bingham Samuel Abbot - Mary Bates  Undecided)

Edit: Seems he was registered as plain William, Sep 1865 Bingham  Sad

The children are scattered in 1881 (Father Samuel dies in Jun 1877 Bingham, Mary in Sep 1875) and I can't find any of them after 1881 - maybe they all emigrated?

Hi Julie and Tati,

I thought that this was quite good- found William in 1881 and others as you did and as father was Samuel seems to fit with William's son. Only thing is that Annis is Annie M so that connection goes.  Sad
Annis Mann seems so specific Julie. There are a couple of these but can't find any marriages.  Cry
