Hi From across the Ditch!
Can anyone clarify a muddle I have please?
I have Henry FAIRY who married Mary Jane HILL in 1888 Victoria. They appear to have had the following family:
1.Mary Ann FAIRY who married Johan FW STEGELMAN in 1915 2. Joseph Henry FAIRY who married Evangeline JARMAN in 1912 3. Olive May FAIRY who married Walter AUSTIN in 1918 4. Frederick FAIRY born 1900 - don't have a marriage! 5. George FAIRY born 1890
It's the last child George about whom I am confused!
I have another FAIRY family viz George William FAIRY & Jessie Louisa (nee Mutimer) who also appear to have had a George in the same year! I'd be grateful if anyone connected to any of these branches could contact me and help to sort this out!
Very grateful indeed if anyone else can help! Thanks Marlene

Hi Deb Dept of Justice site tells me there are NO Fairy births, deaths or marriages recorded! Maybe they winged it under the radar They're definitely there from 1857! AAARGH! Maybe they're off air at the weekend! Cheers Marlene

Frederick Fairy is lsted on the WW2 nominal ROll and on the NAA NOK Henry Fairy
The death index only goes to 1984 so he might have lived past aged 84

I gather the Index works for you? Have I missed registering or something? No George for Mary Jane & Henry! That's interesting! I must have allocated George Joseph to them wrongly years ago! Many thanks Jenn - that solves that mystery!
I'll take a look at Frederick on NAA. Most of the English Fairys lived well into their 80s/90s so Fred's possible age at death would not surprise me! Thanks very much! You've been a great help! Regards Marlene

UUMMmmm! MY Frederick should have parents Henry & Mary Jane (Hill)! I don't have a marriage for him so perhaps there was no-one around at the time of registration! I've taken note anyway! Poor wee Fairys! Regards Marlene

These two are buried in the same grave in the Fawkner cemetery
FAIRY Frederick 20/01/1983 FAIRY Mary Ann 26/04/1968
so they would appear to be brother and sister from the death records
regards JEnn

Hi Jenn! I have had a wonderful day searching Fawkner! For ALL the family surnames! Thank you for the site! I reached the same conclusion about Frederick and Mary Ann so it's great to have it independently verifed!
Here's hoping Springvale comes back online soon - there were quite a few buried there! Unfortunately I didn't have all the info I now have before it went flitting into cyberspace!
Cheers Marlene

Hi Marlene,
I'm waiting for the Springvale Cemetery to come back Online too.
Regarding - Mary Ann Fairy (d.1968), do you think she was the one that was married to Johan Stegelmann, he died in 1957.

Hello there Sara
Mary Ann Fairy who died in 1968 is the daughter of Henry Fairy and Mary Ann Hill and the death index records her name as MAry Ann FAIRY and is buried with her brother Frederick in Fawkner Cemetery, as Mary FAIRY
so I do wonder about the marriage perhaps it ended in divorce and she reverted to her maiden name.
regards Jenn

Hi Jenn,
That was my thought too. . Also the death place for Mary Ann Fairy was Kew. I know there was an Asylum there years ago.
The Inquest into her death does make me think she may have been an Inmate there.
Will wait and see what Marlene has to say. Sarra
