I'm looking for James Henderson b 10/12/1815 at Moreham, Haddingtonshire now East Lothian in Scotland,  father Robert and mother Janet. James' parents and younger female siblings migrated to England but I cannot trace James who was the eldest son. Can only think that he emigrated to a commonwealth country,

Hi Cockneyrebel

Lots of questions I’m afraid…

You haven’t told us when the family moved to England.
Are we talking before 1841?
What makes you think he was still alive when the family moved?

He could have followed the gold rush, so have you thought of California?
James Henderson is a fairly common name….

Hi KiwiBren,
His parents and younger sisters were in Maresfield, Sussex at 1841 census, his mother died there, his father remarried and died there aged 63. His younger sisters stayed and married there with the exception of Marion who returned to Scotland.
They seem a long lived family and I haven't found a death record for him.
His sister's son emigrated to NZ and is buried there at Masterton.
Maybe he went to USA but I thought I 'd try NZ first!
