I'm looking for David Dewar Henderson b1863 in Arbroath, Angus in Scotland, son of Robert and Marjorie. I believe that he and perhaps the rest of the family migrated to the USA. I think that Cuyahoga in Ohio may be the starting point but am clutching at straws as usual!

What is the latest census you have them on?
If it was earlier than 1881 - have you checked the US 1880 census at www.familysearch.org

IGI lists Robert Henderson and Marjorie Strachan Dewar with children Joseph Gibson (born 10 Jan.1862 Arbroath), David Dewar (born 23 Apr.1863 Arbroath) and George Alexander (born 18 Dec.1867 Arbroath).
Have you found the family in Scottish census records (and if so which ones) to narrow down when they left Scotland?

David D. Henderson, 46, born Scotland, to US 1890
wife Charlotte L. Henderson born Scotland, to US 1891, m. 25 yrs, 3 children/3 living
son David Henderson Jr, 21, born Scotland, to US 1891
dau. Elizabeth Henderson, 13, born Ohio
Looks like David might have gone to US first and Charlotte and child/children followed later. Son David's birth certificate should list date and place of parents' marriage as well as mother's maiden name.

HENDERSON
David, b Jun 1862, (37) Scotland, as were his parents, married 15 years, Carpenter, to USA in 1887 and is naturalized.
Charlotte L, b May 1864 (36), married 15 years, birthed 3 chldren, 3 living, born Scotland, as were her parents. To USA in 1888.
Isabelle, dtr, b Nov 1885, (14) Scotland as were her parents, to USA in 1888
David, son, b Aug 1888, (11) Scotland, as were his parents, to USA in 1888
Lizzie J., b Nov 1891, ( Ohio.
The arrival date has changed from census to census, but that was a frequent occurrence. Same thing with ages.

1930 Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga, Ohio (on Queenston street maybe  near Fairmont Boulevard)
David Henderson 68 (married @ age 23, Imm: 1888 )
Charlotte Henderson 66 (married @ age 21, Imm: 1889)
David is still working as a Carpenter.
