Welcome to RootsChat.

Michael was a champion fiddler from Co. Sligo. '"A Musical Biography of Michael Gorman (1895-1970)" by Reg Hall is a fifty four page biography which covers Michael Gorman's family background, upbringing, musical development and repertory, and his life in Ireland both pre- and post-emigration to Britain. www.mustrad.org.uk/reviews/gorman.htm

Michael's brother, Martin, and his nephew Michael both played with him. Martin was a vocalist and his nephew played the flute.

Ian- now that you've inserted a photograph and dates for Michael Gorman it's easier to see who you are searching for. There are lots of internet sites that mention him but are you looking for any particular information?
An obituary from his local newspaper might give family details and clues. His birth certificate will list date and place of birth as well as parents, church records might show siblings, etc.

Hello Ian,

There are a couple of papers which are published specifically for Irish people who live in Britain. It might be worth looking for Michael's obituary in these papers. One is The Irish World, published in North West London, www.theirishworld.com and the other is the Irish Post, also published in London, www.irishpost.co.uk

Michael married somewhere in Sligo. He and his wife had one child ... also called Michael.
