Hi there,

I'm looking into my family tree through the "Dyche" surname.

My great, great grandfather is called John Dyche b1860 who married Mary Ann Day b.abt 1842.  They were both located in the St Chad parish of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

I have a photo of the Dyche family taken about 1912-1914.  There John is pictured with his sons in full uniform.  I believe he was a prison warden (listed on census 1901).  I know that his sons too followed in his footsteps (same uniform on photo) and they joined the military police section when called up for war service 1914-1921. 

I'm looking for any information on Shrewsbury jail - possibly called Salop jail at the time??  Also any information on how to locate any emplyee records to see exactly how many members of my family were employed at the prison etc. 

Basically any information would be a great help!  Grin
