I am searching for a Lewis Hartley married to a Sarah Hartley, they had 4 children so i have been told who were Joseph, annie, emily, evelyn. Emily was born in Dec 1902 North Bierley. This all i have been told by my uncle whom im researching his family for to get started with. Iv been searching birth records and found Emily, but cannot confirm the other children as yet. The trouble is i have found no record in any census of a Lewis Hartley married to a Sarah Hartley.
My uncle believed the family came from shipley but i can confirm the emily born in North Bierley in 1902 is the correct one.
I would appreciate any help, and will continue to look, hopefully my uncle will get back to me with some more details soon which might help narrow the search.

Hi Tati,
i did just come across this too. And seeing as Wakefield is about 11 miles from North Beirley it could be the right one. But i cant find them together on the census after this, 1891 or 1901.
ah was just reply when it warned me a new reply had been posted so scrap what i just said aswell.

I think he might be Joseph Lewis Hartley who married Sarah Walker Bradford RD Dec 1888 9b 303.
The family can be found at RG12/3649/55 p 42 in Shipley. Joseph was a joiner aged 24, born ?Calverley. They have a daughter Mary Ann only a few months old.
Mary Ann is with Sarah, a son Joseph and another daughter Alice in 1901 at RG13/4181/103 p 7
Lewis (or Joseph Lewis) is not present. He can be found in Sheffield RG13/4357/118 p 7 - listed as a journeyman joiner and a boarder.
