I do wonder if the government/s may have offered to buy the land .... or a compulsory purchase as they are fond of doing  Undecided

I honestly don't think either government is that organised to have thought about anything like that yet.

We tend to get so blase and caught up about big business and governments - that we forget about the family run farms in France ...... what Madame is doing ( in my mind ) .... is wonderful - God love her !! Smiley

It'll be a mtter of "watch this space" when it comes to reburials I imagine.

You know I heard nothing about this in the media here - very much overshadowed, specially in Sydney by the Pope's visit. Shame, because the archaeological finds attracted reasonable coverage and this anniversary would be of interest to many.  Undecided

Well after a long break, there is some news.

According to Michel, the excavation starts on 5th May and they are hoping to have the men laid to rest in the new cemetery by the (French) summer of next year. Some photos:

Last two. A big thank you to Michel for his help.

PS The poppies are fake as it is too early for them yet.

Hi Ruskie

I'm just passing on information others have found out and we need to remember the many stubborn people who spent years fighting to get the whole thing organised.

Anyway, here is an aerial photo of the village pointing out the relevant details. VC Corner Cemetery and the main battlefield is off to the upper left.
