Yeah I just goggled the name and found them all close by.
So I think this confirms it, just like you said Wrexham.
I bow to you expert knowledge.

All I got to do now is find the church they used.  When my
family moved from Wales they used the Wesleyan Baptist Chapel.

Many thanks for your help

Hi Brian

If you go to this message:

I've given the details of the Wrexham Museum/Archives. They are very helpful and it would be worth contacting them  Smiley

OK Gadget
Thanks for that I just found a site about 18th century Wrexham, looks
interesting.
There is a mention of the Brewery in Plas Gwern ( Tuttle Street ), also the area was used by many merchants of all trades.

Hi there,

Having worked in Wrexham for a number of years, I can tell you there is a street called Tuttle Street. It runs from its junction with Mount Street and Yorke Street. However, it is not classed as Penybryn.

Penybryn forms part of the road from the town centre out towards Ruabon. It runs from its junction with Bridge street and Chapel Street to its junction with Ruabon Road and Ruthin Road.

If I remember correctly there are no churches/chapels on Penybryn itself, but there are one or two, the denominations of which escape me, off Penybryn. I don't get into Wrexham too often these days, in fact I try to avoid the place.

However, I see you have been given details of the Wrexham museum so I'm sure they will be able to assist.

Good luck.

Poor Wrexham seems to have been surrounded by by-passes and big supermarkets. I remember the Beast Market ant the cinemas on Regent Street and Aston's furniture store and Wrights Corner shop ( I had my first 'grown up' suit from there) and the alley down by Woolworths down to the covered market , etc.  etc.

They do have a webcam  Smiley

There is a Penybryn in Wrexham town centre. My great grandmother was born there.

It has recently undergone a lot of demolition work. Still a major thoroughfare though.

I know someone by the name of Swinnerton too.

Hey Guys as a outsider and have never been there.  Are we saying its not worth a visit.  After all my ancestors once lived in the place.
Sounds like most places been ruined by the developers.
Hey Gene who were those Swinnerton,s then?

Oh - still visit it - the old places are still there - it's just not as it was. I think Llwyd and I are reminiscing. (he was nice to my Mum when she was old  Smiley )
When I last visited though, I was glad that I'd moved away   Undecided

My cousin (aged 84) complains about all the incomers!

OK Guys lets not get personal. As a person from Welsh descent, and proud of it. I think Wrexham should be worth a visit, after all I think I owe it to my ancestors.
Thanks for all your input guys I will be back tomorrow picking your brains about family history.

Pleasure to talk to you all

I think you're wrong there, Brian  Smiley

Experience and history  of place  is very important in family history . If one ignores the developments and changes that have occurred over time, one misses so many aspects of our joined history.

Wrexham in the 1940s/50s and 60s is now history but still relevant.

Gene's ancestors living there, Llwyd working there, my memories of shops and hospitals, etc.

I found the baptisms of Hugh, Edward and Robert in Wrexham but no marriage of Robert and Hannah in Wrexham or Ruabon Sad

What's wrong with Wrexham? I prefer it to Chester anyday.
