Pink Family
« on: Wednesday 04 June 08 19:28 UTC (UK) »

I am wondering whether anyone might have any information on Edward Anne Pink who was born around 1860 in Basingstoke i.e. birth date/parents/siblings/spouse/children etc. etc.

He appears in the 1871 census for Odiham with his grandparents James Pink and Emily unknown.

I would be grateful for any details.

Hi Coonwarra,

The image is a right mess and I don't think the boy's name is Pink at all  Huh

The 1851 census shows James and Emily with a daughter Emily age 12 born Odiham therefore this might be the ones:

Marriage Jun 1857 Basingstoke 2c 319
Emily Pink - Charles Deane

Birth Edward Deane
Jun 1860 Basingstoke 2c 162

1881:

Hi Tati

Thank you for that information - its very strange and not what I was expecting at all!  Presumably the Henry Pink next door was connected in some way?

Possibly!

May I ask you - just because it's intriguing me! - how you picked him up when you don't know his parents, siblings or children? Tongue

1901 shows him in Bideford Devon with a wife Kate age 42 born Greywell and 5 children.

So - what were you expecting?  Smiley

   Hi coonwarra....

There is a marriage in Hartley Witney dist in q4 1837

   James Pink vol 7 p 179

  however three groom ....two brides.

indexed by herself also q4 1837 is

  Emily Honeybun  vol 7 p 177.

Both are from typed transcriptions not the original copies so an error may have occured and she is the missing bride.

I found Edward through a roundabout route!

I have a John Pink in my tree born 1801 at Odiham married to a Martha Hall and I have plenty of info on them except John's parents, who I could not find.  So, I started looking at other Pinks in the Odiham area to see if I could find any connections.

Trawling through the 1871 census I found James Pink born c1811 at Odiham married to an Emily unknown.  The census transcription shows their grandson, Charles Ann Pink born c1860 living with them.  I was curious to know which of James & Emily's children he belonged to and suspected that it was either their son Thomas born c1840 or another son that I don't yet know about. I also expected to find him listed as a Pink in future census returns.

Anyway, what I really want to do is establish whether or not there is a connection between John born 1801 and James born 1811.  Presumably they must have been brothers or cousins etc.

Bit of a long shot really but perhaps someone will know the answer.

For clarification that is the person that seems to be  Edward Charles Deane, born Jun 1860.

I know this is a long time after your initial post but hope you might see this message. Martha Hall was my second cousin 5 times removed. If we can share any information I would be very grateful

Coonwarra  -  hi again

I read your previous post about John Pink' parents.

In case you have not since found them, have some Bishops Transcripts for Hampshire and found the following:

Baptised Odiham  26 April 1801 John, son of James and Sarah Pink,  age 2 weeks.

Other baptisms for James and Sarah :

1 Jan 1797  William
9 Dec 1798  Elizabeth  14 days
28 Aug 1803  Frances
15 Sept 1805  Susan
20 Mar 1808  Anne
25 Mar 1810  Sarah
26 Jan 1812  James

Marriage :  James Pink and Sarah Guillam  29 June 1794

There are no other Pinks families in Odiham during the period.  I don't have records after 1812, so there maybe other children.

I hope this is useful  - sorry if I'm repeating something you already know by now  Undecided

Oops sorry about the typo ...meant Pink

Coonwarra thanks for replying.  As you can gather from my surname my main interest is the Hall family particularly Long Sutton and South Warnborough based. My tree tends to go off on lots of branches though so I have lots of Windiates, Pinks etc in my tree.

Wll pm as soon as I reach the magic number!!!!!!
