HELP!!!
My great-aunt Charlotte A. Bletsoe, left London on the Orient Line steamer OTWAY on 25 April 1913 bound for Fremantle, listed as Domestic. Charlotte was born in 1894 in Brighton, Sussex, UK. I was told that she married a sheep-farmer. I don't know a name.  Cry

Hi again,
I can see by a service record for Herbert George for ww1, that he was born in Oxfordshire and was 28 in 1916 when he enlisted.  He was living at Geraldton at that time  He was a labouurer and his father, still in UK is his next of kin.

To read this record, search as a guest and enter the name in key words.

Not sure where you got your immigration  information for Charlotte.  Perhaps it was from......

http://www.findmypast.com

If it was, then you can look again to see Herbert arriving in 1911.

Hi

Had a look at the image and the only additonal information is his occupation which is farm hand.

Herbert STRATFORD departed London on 9 Jun 1911 on the ORVIETO on for Australia.

Did notice another possible candidate on the findmypast index.

Herbt. G. STRATFORD He departed1914 and his birthdate of 1888 is correct for service history man.??
Same man?  Two trips? OR different men?

Sue

Adding: A probable Herbert is on 1901 Brithish census as HERBERT G. STRATFORD. b. Oxfordshire 1888.  Someone might look for you to see his family details if of interest to you. Father is listed on service hisory as Thomas Herbert STRATFORD.

Hello Cheesy

You both made my a very, very happy person.
I don't know how you have done it!
Do you have a magical eye to find something?
I will go and try to find anything more.
My granny told me, Charlotte did not have any
children.
Oké, first Charlotte and then i am going to German
sites, to find anything about Beatrice.
Thanks so far!!

Thanks Terra! Cheesy

The only problem i have now is, why i was told Charlotte married a sheepfarmer. Was it to make it a nice story? Or mayby she divorced Herbert and did indeed married a sheepfarmer? My mind boggles Grin.

Hi

According to the electoral rolls Herbert's occupation was farmer and this would also include sheep farmer or grazier.  I have not seen the occupation 'sheep farmer' listed on any electoral rolls.  I would imagine that the area around Lake Brown would involve both grain growing and sheep farming.

1925
STRATFORD Hebert George Lake Brown, via Nungarin  Occ Farmer

1936
STRATFORD Herbert George  Lake Brown via Nungarin  Occ Farmer
STRATFORD Charlotte Agnes  Lake Brown   Occ Home duties

Charlotte was STRATFORD when she died.

Cheers

Hi Rozy,
Now, I am not sure what you mean here

The only problem i have now is, why i was told Charlotte married a sheepfarmer. Was it to make it a nice story? Or mayby she divorced Herbert and did indeed married a sheepfarmer? My mind boggles

She married HERBERT STRATFORD and he was a farmer in rural WA according to the eletoral roll findings [per cando] at Nungarin.  Sheep is a likely farm style for him there.

Reply # 6 from me re census.  If you ask someone may look at the family for you and you might see a farming background.!!

So what you have been told appears to be true.  On the basis of what you have given us anyway Grin
BY the way, The PO Directory shows him from  in  1922
STRATFORD, HERBERT G. FARMER,  NUNGARIN.
