Hi Eeyores
Going back a step - do you know that there should be a son called Ernest J & that he should be about the same age?
Why have you started with the marriage cert & worked forward?
What else does the cert say about the people concerned - occupations, witnesses?
Kind regards, Arranroots
Edit: he aged a bit by 1901 - 32 years instead of 28!

P.P.S
The James and Elizabeth BELTON (I believe it is actually BILTON) you have found are enumerated M = married.
Those on the same page who are unmarried are enumerated S = single.

Regarding the birth certificate - I think these details might be relevant
Marriage
Jun 1899 Edmonton 3a 650
BILTON James HOWTON Elizabeth
Birth
Dec 1899 Edmonton 3a 506
BILTON Ernest James
Do you know what became of this couple? IF you give the details of the marriage cert we might be able to track them forward, if you'd like help?
Kind regards, Arranroots

I see you have already had quite a lot of help with this family - it really is naughty not to say so at the outset.

Just reading the thread to see if it helps.

Well, every little bit of information helps - it means that we don't have to go over the same ground again.
You haven't really given us much to go on - I'll wait until you post all the marriage cert details, then maybe we can work forwards - although it sounds as though others have had trouble finding them & I am not professing to be better than them!
If there was indeed a romany/ traveller connection then maybe they were able to avoid the census. Does anyone recall whether there were any children born to Elizabeth and/ or Noah?

Hi EEyores
I have looked in the 1901 census for Ernest J born 1900 in Middlesex. There are 22 and two of these have mothers named as Elizabeth, the Bilton baby. and the child of Henry and Elizabeth Perkins living in Hanwell.
I have also looked for Ernest Stanley born in 1900 and turned up
Ernest J Stanley 6 months born in London, Poplar and living with his parents Arthur and Elizabeth (both 39) and siblings up to 14 years old - see RG13 353 165 page 10. This is probably the Ernest J Stanley whose Poplar birth record you have traced.
All the best
Gobbo
