Brown in Chenies
« on: Saturday 07 June 08 23:22 BST (UK) »

If possible could SKS do a look up in Chenies PR's for the marriage of a Henry Brown to Mary Crutch, 21st Oct 1820. I am hoping the PR will confirm for me that he was a widower.

Also, if it's not to much trouble, any births for children to Henry Brown & Sophia between 1816 & 1818. I believe they had a daughter Sarah in Rickmansworth christened 9th June 1816 then moved to Chenies. From the IGI I have the birth of Henry jnr christened 2nd August 1818 & died soon after but I'm hoping they had a son John somewhere in between.

Thanking you in advance & any help will be very much appreciated.

Hi

Thank you for replying, yes, I had found Anne in Ricky as well but forgot to mention her.  As the IGI has such a good coverage of Rickmansworth & my John Brown states in the census that he was born in Chenies I have everything crossed that he was born c1817 to Henry & Sophia. Smiley

Thanks again

Hi Maddie

I have checked a marriage transcription for Chenies and it only gives the bare facts

21 May 1820  Henry BROWN & Mary CRUTCH

Other entries do say if one partner widowed, so you must assume that he was not.

Other entries
13 May 1799  William BEESON & Elizabeth BROWN
17 Oct 1819  Daniel BROWN & Mary PICTON
418 Mar 1833  James BRYANT & Sarah BROWN w
8 Aug 1835  James BROWN of St Bride's & Eliza Ann BROWN

Found no entries for CRUTCH in this period

Hi Jenny

Many thanks for checking the transcript, what a shame there is only bare facts Sad Strange thing is I am pretty sure I have Henry & Mary on the 1841 in Chenies (although I could be wrong) & they have a John with them aged 25 who would have been born before they married in 1820.

Thanks again for the other marriages, I had wondered if the Sarah Brown to James Bryant could have been a daughter of Henry's but you have confirmed that she was not as she was a widow. Smiley

I am very grateful for your help.
