Wath-upon-Dearne
« on: Friday 06 June 08 19:11 BST (UK) »

Hello, could anyone kindly look for Isabel Mills for me.
The information I have is that she is on the 1901 Census at Robin Hoods Bay as being born at Wath-upon-Dearne about 1881.
We know nothing else about her, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you,
Emmi

Hi Emmi,

So you don't have the 1901 census? It actually gives her birth place as Robin Hoods Bay (unless I have the wrong Isabel!):

1901
RG13/4561 50 3
Fylingdales Robin Hoods Bay
Elm Grove

Margaret Ann Mills, head, wid, 58, Living on own means
Rachel Ann Mills, dau, s, 27
Isabel Robinson Mills, dau, s, 20

All born Robin Hoods Bay.

Exactly the same household in 1891 as 1901 (but mum is shown as married).

Here she is in 1881:

Many thanks Tati,
It was a connection to our family tree who sent me the information about Isabel but clearly it is wrong and they are mistaken.
I am still looking for an Isabel Mills, who lived in wath-upon-Dearne when her daughter was born in 1914, that is the only clue I have now as Isabel died when her daughter was about 5 years old.
Thanks again,
Emmi

Hello Emmi,
I have searched "Ancestry" from 1917 to 1925 inclusive to try to find details of Isabels death.Nothing there,I am afraid.

Hello KLM,
Thank-you so much for your help, I am fairly sure now that I was given the wrong information by my family and Isabel wasn't born on the Mills side at all, but on the Winskill side of the family.
Many thanks again,
Emmi

Dear Emmi, I would be very interested to hear from you.  My mother was Irene Nichols, the only surviving child of Sarah Isabel Winskill and William Nichols of Sandymount Road, Wath Upon Dearne.  We only found out recently that the woman we had always thought was called Isabel Mills was in fact Sarah Isabel Winskill.  We also did not know about the other children, only Herbert was ever mentioned by my mother, and yet she must have been about 4 when Douglas was born and died.  Curioser and curioser!!!  My mother was brought up by her granny Nichols in wath.  Her father having dfied a few years after Isabels death in 1918.  The only Mills relative we knew was Rhoda the daughter of  mary Elizabeth Winskill and William Mills.  Would be very interested to hear if you know any more than I do about ther Mills/Winskill connection.
