i have 3 mary pescod marriages but dont know which mary on my data base ot put them with
mary pescod m george young 1864 sunderland
mary pescod m thomas carr 1869 sunderlnad
and mary pescod m edward shippen 1861 sunderland?
can anyone straiten it out for me pls im going round the twist  trying to match

 Gwen, me thinks you may need three marriage certs. to give Fathers names, & witnesses are sometimes a help.

just to say that the Edward Shippen's marriage on Free BMD says Mary Hannah Pescod- confirmed in once census where she is Mary H.
The censuses indicate that she was born Blaydon Burn- does this help?
Only found these where members are born Blaydon

1861 RG9; Piece: 3718; Folio: 36; Page: 8
Parents John and May - possibly in USA in 1851 census.

1871 RG10; Piece: 4988; Folio: 32; Page: 38
Robert Pescod b 1832 Blaydon with brother Joseph b 1839 Swalwell  (there is a Joseph in 1861 family but Robert not there)

1881 has Joseph again and also a Fennick/ Fenwick Pescod b 1825 Blaydon living Cornsay

When I try to track these- they are as you say inclined to drive you round the twist so Wendy has the best idea - certificates necessary   Roll Eyes

Apart from getting certs the only thing I can think of is tracking each couple through the census, sometimes a parent shows up or a child is with a grandparent, but as the Pescods seem to just use a handful of first names that probably won't help much.
