Hi all, You've really done a good job except that David's birth dates don't match up. On the IGI C112721 he was born 23 April 1863 but on Naturalisation and death it says 23 June 1862. Is one or other of them wrong or are we up the wrong creek? CR

There is another problem: Robert Henderson 26 Dec 1819 in Moreham, East Lothian, married Marjorie Dewar Strachan 15 Jan 1861 in Dundee, Angus. They had 3 children per IGI as aghadowey also found: Joseph Gibson (born 10 Jan.1862 Arbroath), David Dewar (born 23 Apr.1863 Arbroath) and George Alexander (born 18 Dec.1867 Arbroath). As these were born in the 1860s, I find it strange that none of them appear on the 1871/81 Scottish census nor their parents! Robert's sister Elisabeth b 11 Jan 1817 was living with the newly weds at the 1861 Scottish census. Maybe the whole lot emigrated? I'm going to post to other emigration boards to see if anything will turn up. CR

I, for one, NEVER take the IGI with 100% credibility even if it is an extracted record. You can make your own informed decision on this.
It is also possible that the person giving the deceased person's vital could be wrong. People were often wrong with their own dates of birth, marriage, immigration, etc. so could have passed wrong information to the people close to them as well.
People can give you what they have found that seems to present a credible trail -- it is really up to you to decide if it all really does --- or find your own corroborative sources.
Since the 1900 census gives June, 1862 and his naturalization gives June , 1862 -- all dates he presumeably provided himself -- and the death informant gave June, 1862 - that trumps the IGI from my perspective!
Have you followed the lead of his Mother's maiden name from the Ohio Death record?? Confirming that is a pretty significant confirmation, I would think.

Posting on all the various boards as you seem to have done will only cause lots of people needless work searching for the same information which might not even exist. Before requesting further details you should have at least an idea that the family did go to the country where you are asking for help.

Hi LissaM, I cannot see David's mother's maiden name on the Ohio obituary record? I've found Charlotte, David Jr (aged and Lizzie Jane (aged 4) Henderson depart Glasgow 15/10/1896 to New York on the Furnessia. However, I cannot find David D. on earlier ships? Ohio Susan-I tried Ancestry hey matched David Dewar with David D, in Cuyahoga but wouldn't give more as I don't have membership.
