Can anyone help me try and find out some information on a Daniel D. Hennessey. He was the brother of my great granfather John Hennessey and he also had a sister called Joanna.
Daniels name is on the 1881 census but does not appear on the 1901 census. ? Does anyone know where he was. I know he had family living in Bristol and that he was involved with St Patricks Church in Redfield.
Any info greatly recieved to help me and another of my relatives as we are trying to piece the Hennessey side of the family together.

Hi
Regarding Daniel Hennessy in 1901 he would have been roughly 25 years old.
The place i have down for his birth is Stapleton Gloucester.
Any help!

Hi, i've just tried again, and there is nobody there born Gloucestershire or living in gloucestershire on the 1901 census, there is'nt anyone for that age either. 
Like you i found him on the 1881 census, have you found him on the 1871 census.

Hi, i notice that his dad was born in Ireland.
On the 1891 census it has Bristol for Daniels place of birth, you dont think he might have changed his place of birth for the 1901 census do you , It's just that when looking again on the 1901 census there is a Daniel Hennessey, b Ireland saying he was a soldier in Dover (i think,cant remember) When clicking to see other members ALL the soldiers were Ireland for place of birth.
Just a thought.....he might have said he was born in Ireland to join the army with the rest of the Irish soldiers.
Also, on the 1891 census i have his brother living nxt dr to him, John Hennessey, did'nt know if you already had this.
Have a look on the 1901 census and see what i mean about him being in the army.

Daniel could have had his birth place down as Bristol, cause Stapleton is now class as Bristol where as probably in the 1800S it was class as Gloucester.
You have hit the right Daniel because his father was born in Ireland and in fact his father was also in the army when he was younger.
Could well be a possibility that he lied to join a regiment.
As to the brothers living next door to each other in 1891, i did not know that, i haven't got assess to the 1891 or 1871 census.
Sorry to be a pain but how do you get to ancestry to check the 1901 census

Hi, i'll give you the details tomorrow as to what was on the 1901 census (brother), as for getting info, you have to either pay-to-view £7.?? a week of bout £30 for the quater, you get to view the original census. I'll give you the details of the census tomorrow, hubby let me have 1 min on the computer..............MEN.

Hi Alison, sorry if the message last night didnt make much sense  I'd had a couple of drinks and had to rush the message because the hubby was on the computer.
The details for Daniels Brother on the 1891 census is :
John H Hennessey, Head, 25, Mason, Farnborough,Berks.
Mary Hennessey, Wife, 26, Downend?, Glos.
Mary Hennessey, Daug, 6, Scholar, Bristol,Glos.
Elizabeth Hennessey, Daug, 4, Scholar, Bristol,Glos.
John Hennessey, Son, 2, Bristol,Glos.
Beatrice Hennessey, Daug, 6mnths, Bristol,Glos.
I notice that on this census, although the Brother JOHN is put down seperately to his Brother Daniel & Parents they live at the same address.
