Hello Australian Lister here. I have come across an old family photo which is printed with the detail: Victory Studio, Dundee. I wonder if this Photographic studio name resonates with anyone here? There is no date on the image, but it looks early 20th century.
Perhaps the Victor Studio is mentioned in one or more of the Dundee City Directories. This from a website:
"James P. Matthew & Co., printers, publishers, bookbinders, and stationers was founded in 1854, and became best known as printers and publishers of the 'Dundee Directory' which they produced from 1864. Trading as Paul and Matthew they ceased trading around 1927, and Burns & Harris purchased the publishing rights to the 'Dundee Directory'. The Directory was published annually until the last edition went to press in 1974."
The Dundee Central Library (Email: localhistory@dundeecity.gov.uk ) has an extensive collection of newspapers, directories, photographs and maps. They might be willing to search the directories but it would probably help if you had the name of the owner of the Victor Studio. Alternatively, a Rootschatter living in or close to Dundee might search for you.
