Stones Stores and Cinema in Wellington

Me again...

Can anyone advise generally where I might find information about defunct businesses in Wellington (I am not local but can visit)?

I am particularly looking for a general store/confectioners called Stones Stores in Wellington.  I think in business until the 1930s.  Does any older local member remember this shop?  Or have any information about it? 

I am also looking for info about the cinema in Wellington, allegedly owned by my Great Grandmother Selina Hold (nee Townsend) who was (allegedly again!) brainwashed into selling it to the Jehovah's Witnesses!

Grateful for any clues.
