Recent information such as you are looking for is probably not available online. 1901 and 1911 census records may help as well as church records.

Dear Dick, I would suggest you try the Irish Family History database at http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/map.php but for two things: one, I've had a quick look for your Vances without success and two, it's exorbitantly expensive (especially if, like me, you want to record all Vances). Still, seriously, I may have missed them so you should have a look. If you find any further info, please let me know; as I say, I'm trying to record all the Vances in the hope of discovering how we are all related. Good luck with you research, Jamie. see http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vfarch

Hi, I don't how you are getting on chasing your Irish roots but I am also looking for Langs in Castlepoles and although I don't think your James appears on my tree I do have a copy of his marriage cert to Frances Vance. His father was also James Lang Farmer of Castlepoles and Frances' father was John Vance. They were 30 & 29 respectively.

Brilliant, Shirley, well done!
You don't have any more Vances, do you? I'd love to have anything you've got.
Yours, Jamie.

Hi Dick and others, I've recently had an email kindly sent me by someone who spotted my interest in this subject. He wrote: "I found your message re the Lang/Vance family Castlepoles Arva, Co Cavan, My primary school teacher was Mrs. Francis Lang Brusehall National School C of I I attended this school 1929-39.I was an adopted child of a neighboring family. I got to know the Lang family very well. Mrs. Lang had 3 sons Herbie, Alfie, and Desmond, all have passed on now. Herbie's widow stills lives at Castlepoles" Hope this'll help someone. Jamie.

Hi, how interesting! My father's cousins went to Bruce Hall School, joining in about 1926. They were Cecil David Stokes Lang & Ena Christina Lang. I wonder if your contact knew them. Shirley
