I couldn't find anything in the census so I had a look for their deaths.  Here are two that look like they may be a match.

Robina Stenhouse, 1899, age 52, Tillicoultry, Clackmannan.  Other surname is listed as Gordon.

Peter Stenhouse, 1894, age 44, Tillicoultry, Clackmannan.

Hi

I couldn't see them in Census either &  found the same deaths as Kooran ....

1891: tillicoultry - for reference:
Peter Stenhouse 40 - b abt 1851 Crossford Fife - Coal Miner
Robina Stenhouse 42 - b abt 1849 tillicoultry
Children:
Robert Stenhouse 19 - b abt 1872  tillicoultry
Robina Stenhouse 18 - b abt 1873 tillicoultry
James Stenhouse - 15  - b abt 1876 tillicoultry
Peter Stenhouse 12 - b abt 1879 tillicoultry
Mary Stenhouse 9 - b abt 1882 tillicoultry
William Stenhouse 6 - b abt 1885 tillicoultry
Andrew Stenhouse  3  - b abt 1888 tillicoultry
Also in the 1891 house was boarder  named William GORDON age 37.

1901:
Son Robert 29 is married, living in Beath Fife.
Son Andrew 13 is with Robert
Son Peter 22, son William 16, dau Mary 19* are all in Beath Fife, together (Mary's age incorrectly transcribed on source as 9)
Son James 25 is (probably) married, living in tillicoultry with wife & 2 children, the eldest of whom is named Peter.

Not sure if you already  have these Census of the (grown/married) children in 1901.....

Cheers

The last of the 7 children in 1901:

Daughter Robina STENHOUSE married John HUNTER in Leith, Midlothian in 1895 (Scotland People)
They are in Midlothian in 1901, their 2nd born son is named Peter.

Hi Valerie  Grin

Thanks for the PM.  (It looks like your reply to this topic went off into the Ether somewhere, though  Grin )

Here are the 1901 Census for the children of Peter and Robina (pretty sure it's them, anyway):

Robert and Andrew - 1901: Beath, Fife,
Parish 410, ED:3, Household schedule:109
Address: Marshall Bldgs No 2
Head: Robert Stenhouse 29, Coal Miner, b Tillicoultry (abt 1872)
Wife: Elizabeth Stenhouse 32 , b Falkirk (abt 1869)
Brother: Andrew Stenhouse 13, Scholar, b Tillicoultry (abt 1888)

Peter, William and Mary - 1901: Beath, Fife,
Parish 410, ED 3, Household schedule :236
Address:Old Cantsdam (?) 4
Head: Peter Stenhouse 22, Coal Miner b Clackmannan, Tillicolutry (abt 1879)
Brother: Wm Stenhouse 16, Shoemaker, b Clackmannan, Tillicolutry (abt 1885)
Sister: Mary Stenhouse 19, Housekeeper, b Clackmannan, Tillicolutry (abt 1882)* [age transcribed as 9, but it is likely to be 19]
Boarder: John France 21, Coal Miner b Haddington, Tranent (abt 1880)
Boarder: Jane Smith 19, b Stirling, Minnevon*  (abt 1882) [place of birth probably mant to be Muiravon]

James - 1901: Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire
Parish 468, ED:6, Household schedule :150
Address:13 Condies Row
Head: James Stenhouse 25, Coalminer, b Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire (abt 1876)
Wife: Janet Stenhouse 27, b Dollar, Clackmannanshire (abt 1874)
Son: Peter Stenhouse 3, b Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire (abt 1898)
Son: David A Stenhouse 3 months, b Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire (abt Dec1899-Jan1901)

Robina - 1901: Leith South, Midlothian
Parish 692/2, ED:28, Household schedule :233
Address: 3 Anderson Pl , Town of Leith
Head: John Hunter 29, Engine Fitter , b Longholm, Dumfriesshire (abt 1872)
Wife: Robina Hunter 28, b Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire (abt 1873)
Son: Robert Hunter 5, b Coalsnoughton, Clackmannan (abt 1896)
Son: Peter Hunter 3, b Leith, Midlothian (abt 1898)
Son: John Hunter 1, b Leith, Midlothian (abt 1900)

It certainly looks as if James, and Robina jnr both followed naming patterns for their respective children.
So, Robina Hunter's eldest son is probably after a father-in-law named "Robert", and James' 2nd son is probably named after a father-in-law named "David".
Also, it is very likely Robina, though married in Midlothian, went back to Mum to have her first baby. Therefore, Robina snr may have been living in Coalsnaughton, Tillicoultry in at least 1895/96. The Coalsnaughton Mine is possibly where Peter Snr worked?

I can't see any specific accident here circa 1894 which may have led to Peter Snr's death but this is a great site anyway:

Here is a website, with your STENHOUSE on it.
http://www.geocities.com/tetley_56/rstenhouse_mburt.html
It shows  Peter Burt STENHOUSE and Robina GORDON, and also the wife and children of their son, Peter.

Also mentioned in this site, part way down the page (same tree owner as the one above)
