Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
« on: Monday 09 June 08 20:48 BST (UK) »

I am looking for any information on a distant 2nd cousin of my wife.  He was Thomas Templeton, born 13 March 1890, at Mosside Farm, Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland.  The info I have is that we went to the Saskatoon area to farm.  This would be in the 1930's.  The only other thing I know is that he had a son John.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Hi there,
have you tried the saskatchewan genweb site yet? Farming in the Saskatoon area encompasses a large area. I did find one Thomas Templeton farming the southeast 1/4 of section 16 township 6 range 5 west of the 2nd meridian. I don't know if he's yours because the 1930's seems a little late to be in the Saskatchewan Homestead Index.

It looks like he came to Canada long before the 1930's.

Here are his Attestation Papers from the 1st World War. He was living in Manor, Saskatchewan at the time, and his occupation was Fireman.

Here is a link for a book that mentions Thomas & Agnes Templeton. There are several pages where the name Templeton is mentioned. Also named is a brother Peter.

Perhaps a coincidence, but a Thomas Templeton recently received a Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal....in 2004 ( from Regina, Sask.)...perhaps a descendant?

Backatcha...we posted simultaneously... Grin
There was a Templeton family in the Assinaboia, Saskatchewan District who came from Scotland in 1902  ( Same forename...& your young Thomas ended up in township 7 of that district, so he may have been an uncle or cousin?)
