Jackson burial plots Kilmartin Parish Church
« on: Tuesday 10 June 08 13:36 UTC (UK) »

It's brass neck time. I know it's a bit cheeky to ask but if anybody is going to be passing or visiting Kilmartin Parish Church could they please look out some Jackson burial plots. I have been told that some of my ancestors are buried in the churchyard and there are headstones. Looking for John Jackson died 1880, wife Flora (maiden name McNair) and possibly son Finlay born 1853. Will not be in Kilmartin area for a while so would appreciate any help.

Thanks, Doddie

John Jackson and Flora MacNair are my great-great-great-grandparents.I visited Kilmartin graveyard a few years ago .There are a lot of Jacksons buried there(even graves from the beginning of the 19th cent.)  but no trace of John and Flora(some graveslabs were unreadable).
Their daughter in law Isabella Crawford(married Coll Jackson in 1872,died 1900) is buried there.

I don't even know where my gggrandfather James and his family are buried(not Achnabreac,my aunt thought they could be in Kilmory near Lochgilphead).

Do you know where and when Flora Macnair died?I haven't been able to find her death or birth certificate. Huh

I am also looking for a burial in Kilmartin churchyard although I don't know if there is a headstone. I am looking for the burial of John Ferguson and his wife Isabella Ferguson m.s. MacCallum and I think they died around the mid 1850s. I am also looking for a baptism in Kilmartin church around the same time for their son also John Ferguson. Isabella was born and raised in Kilmartin
