Hi wondering if anyone out there can help me, I am trying to find the mother of William James Lester born 15 Nov 1852 in Bristol Gloucester England, He migrated to NZ in 1873 where he went on to marry Lydia Clutterbuck in 1878, I have obtained his death cert but it only lists his fathers name as being William, his marrige cert also fails to list parents, any help would be greatly appreciated

I had actually seen this couple before and thought it may be but William James siblings are listed as Sophia, Frederick and Caroline Rodda, when i was looking through census returns i could find no Families with matching names, and then again there is a large birth gap between William and Sophia of 5 years, mmmm maybe after all
Will have another look through my mothers notes and see where she came up with the siblings names

Maybe Rhoda is wife #2 for William, and the youngest ones on this Census are his first with her..... the other names may appear later on. I will have a bit more of a look for you now that I have these other names.

OMG you are a legend thankyou so much, i have been looking for this family for so long, that certainly looks right to me, especially having one of the children named after the mother

No i dont have his birth certificate but his birth date was listed in my grandmothers birthday book, i do have his marriage and death certs, am now having trouble finding a marriage date or maiden name for William srs marriage to Rhoda, Karenlee has been a great help, it really threw me with William James being born in Bristol and everyone else in Somerset but all siblings names match and birthdays match so must be them

He was my Great grand father - William James Lester ,born 1852, married Lydia Clutterbuck, died 27 th may 1920. Father was William Lester who married Rodda Grifford.
