a good Turner name to look up
« on: Thursday 12 June 08 06:56 UTC (UK) »

Ambrose Turner b.1831 married Eliza Corkett in cheddington 1854. his dad was Joseph and we have him in 1841 census age 10 with his family although he is not in the 1851 census with them. he died Leighton Buzzard 1868 age 35, so crucial that we find him with his wife in 1861 census to establish whether they had any children.
thank you

kas

thats great i love it when relatives are staying. i was only chasing a hunch that he was linked to the family. but this gives me more to go on.
and yes that means there were children. so more to follow up.
i am pretty sure that if i dig deep enough ALL the Turners in Ivinghoe are linked somehow.

Cheesy

its possible. unfortunately Eliza Turner is a really common name so cant verify that. but there were Gower relations in the family so i will follow that one up.
back in the 1700's i have a family of Turner that is composed of 4 sons. of those 4 i only have a definite marriage for one of them. and 3 maybe marriages for the other 3. but that might account for all the Turners in Ivinghoe. and that if you go back far enough they are all related.
they are
Charles b1711 possibly to Susanna Carter 1737
Richard b1711  "             "  Mary Pierce  1730
Daniel b.1714   "             " Eliza Cook 1740
all these marriages would have produced kids in Bucks.
unfortunately the 4th son is the only one where the father is mentioned in the marraige report on IGI.

i notice stranger you have Turners inyour interest surnames at the end there.
do you have a connection to any of these.
i am related to this line and have been looking for distant relations no matter how distant. are they connected to you.?

we are derived from the Turners that lived in London that originated from Ivinghoe Bucks but our line stayed in London when all the others left for USA

I'm working on the Turner line/family that were resident in Bray, Berkshire in 1690. Prior to Bray.. Hmmm, Ivinghoe is a possible..  Undecided
Smiley Take a look at the Scavenger Hunt on the Berkshire board, 6 parts. Some in the completed bit as well.

ok i will look
my line starts with a 1649 birth in Ivinghoe and only one of half dozen kids are accounted for. until you get 2 gen from there that is. then it gets a little easier.
