Hi I just wondered if anyone could help me? We have just moved into a new house and wanted to know if it had ever had a house name. We think it was built just before 1878 andwondered if a name would show on any census's as all the other houses nearby seem to have a house name. The address is 182 Victoria Avenue Borrowash Derby. I think from the Land Registry that some of the previous owners may have been: Clementina Holbrook and Sarah Jane Louisa Holbrook Mr John Anthony
Thank you, Alison

can you put any dates against those names ?
The only census with street index that most have access to is 1881 .... 1901 also for some....

OK, I'll look at those names next - looking at the actual Districts in 1881, it seems to come under Ockbrook Parish - but none of the 3 Enumerators pages mention Victoria Ave .....

I might have a few more clues that may help.
Victoria Avenue was apparently called Ockbrook Lane until 1897.
The houses weren't numbered until the late 1890's
There's Homes Dale, Tranquil Vale, 2 more houses then us!
Hope this helps Alison
