no concrete info., I'm afraid but a possibly useful link.
I looked first on the Dorset OPC site: www.dorset-opc.com and found several RENDELLs but no no Lambert Rendell
I then looked on the Dorset OPC site of Deborah Carmichael: http://www.geocities.com/opcdorset/ and found this:
The parish of Hawkchurch was transferred to Devon from Dorset in 1896.
Anciently, it was part of the old Dorsetshire Hundred of Whitway.
There are two tythings - Phillyholme and Wyld Court.
