Trouble is - FreeBMD isn't complete and he isn't on there. You really need to search the complete BMD's.

His death cert may give a clue - who registered the death -  and gravestones usually mention wife etc

(is it a war grave??)

Why should anyone need someone else to search a Free, Online resource? Unless of course it is too much trouble for them.

Pauline

Tricia, I suggested searching the images, not the transcribed index. The images ARE COMPLETE for that period.

Hi Pauline - I'm not querying your posting - just doing my own thing

"Why should anyone need someone else to search a Free, Online resource? Unless of course it is too much trouble for them."

I'm sure it's not the case here but not everyone is as capable as others at searching these indexes. Wink

I have searched the complete Marriage Index from 1910 to 1915 and there isn't a marriage.

I will continue backwards to 1905 but I have a feeling he didn't marry.

We shall see

Ok - I have checked the Complete Civil Registration Marriage Index England & Wales from 1905 to 1915 inclusive and can't find a marriage.

:)yes its looking that way, grateful to you for your help.
in 1892 ernest mum died and we believe the family moved in with his grandparents who were living in st martin at palace in a public house" beehive" ,when his grandfather died dec 1892 they all stayed there until the middle of next year then his father remarried and his older brother moved in with them but ernest stayed with his grandmother and moved to bishop bridge road.
after this its not easy to trace , i did phone about his death certificate but i was told it wouldnt have much info .
i have done lots of research and its difficult if you are new to forums , but so many of you out there have been great  Wink

Hi Paston !  Smiley

His service records aren't on A* !! ( which may have that information !! ) apart from the fact they are not up to "P" yet .... I don't think you'll find them ...... there are still a lot missing .... mostly due to the blitz in WW2 however files that are known to be there - are missing from Ancestry also ..... plus I believe some records were destroyed if the soldier had died ... they were only kept for a few years ..... so it's a case of sit and wait I'm afraid ... you maybe lucky you may not !! ( I know .... it doesn't sound very encouraging !!  Undecided )
