Joseph Brown (b1859), Dalry
« on: Saturday 14 June 08 08:48 BST (UK) »

Can anyone help with the family of Joseph Brown?   He was an ironstone miner born 1859 Dalry.   Parents Hugh Brown & Jane Thornton.   He lived and worked for a while in Rankinston and appears to have built a house there.  He later sold it and moved to Ayr.    Would like to find out a bit more about Joseph, if anyone can help.

Thanks, I don't have these census years.  We're trying to find out how a miner could manage to build a bungalow in Rankinston, he sold it and moved to Ayr after a while but it's been a wee bit of an enigma.  Miners weren't well paid, certainly not enough to build a house.
