I have, at last, broken down my SMITH brick wall in London.
Thomas SMITH born approx 1827 gives his place of birth as Cliffe Pypard, Bushton & Woooton Bassett.
In 1841 he is living with his parents in Cliffe Pypard
HO107/1179/4 folio 17 page 1
James SMITH age 48, an Ag Lab
Sophia 48
Jane 21
Thomas 14
Edmund 6
Martha 4
all born in county.
There are several SMITH families in the village.
I'm hoping that now I have traced my SMITHS to a small village I might have some success in tracing them back further.
I can't see a marriage for James & Sophia on the IGI (Hugh Wallis' batch numbers saying marriages 1576-1840 are included). Perhaps Sohia's home parish was not Cliffe Pypard. She died before the 1851 census so I don't know where she was born.
I'm new to research in Wiltshire so I'm not sure what resources are available.
Can anyone help ?

By 1851 James was on his third wife, Rebecka - 31 years his junior.
