MI's Canwick Road Cemetery, Lincoln.
« on: Sunday 15 June 08 17:55 BST (UK) »

Hi,
Could anyone access MI's for Canwick Road?
I have found John Frederick Palmer buried there on 2nd May 1925 according to the NBI. However, I can't find a burial record for his wife, Frances Mary (nee Broomhead) born 1854 in West Stockwith and living in Lincoln at the time of the 1901 census with John and children William Frederick and Betsy.
Thank you, regards,
Kate.

Hi Kate

I have found a Frances Mary Palmer who was buried 5 Jun 1947 aged 74yrs.

Ancestry has her death record - Lincoln, Apr-Jun 1947, Vol 3b Page 272

Could this be of interest to you?

Regards
Sally

I suspect i have this chap in my tree, 2nd hubby to my great grandmother.

I have the marriage cert dated 11/04/1903, St Faiths Church, Lincoln.

John Frederick Palmer, aged 50, Widow, occ Joiner(?), residence Richmond Road.

Wonder if this might be the ref for Frances Mary?

Mar 1902

Update

Hang on, think i've got the answer here..... Yes, it appears that  Frances Mary and John Frederick are buried together but she is recorded as May. The date certainly seems a good match to the death reference i found above

They seem to match the couple in Sibthorpe St in 1901 ...

Also in Sibthorpe St in the 1901 is George Elmer (the ancestry index has him recorded as coarder to the head of the house, i think it should be boarder!!.

He died just a week or two later, it is his daughter (Martha) who married JFP in 1903.

Just completely off topic, the folowing thread was raised re a photograph about Martha, supposedly dated as 1902, right about the time she and JFP were "getting to know each other"

Just to confirm that it is the same John Frederick Palmer as the one in my tree.

The 1901 census return shows the address as 58 Sibthorpe St, the property remained connected to the family right up until Martha (the 2nd wife) died in 1956.

Between 1907 and 1956 the property was rented out, mostly to members of the Elmer family, i have several bmd certs with the address entered as the residence, and details from the electoral roll show the family link stopped in 1956.

Going on info from the family i have found it appears that Martha rented out at least five properties, mostly in the Moor St, Gresham St and Hewson Road area. All of them are noted on certs and again the family connections stop in 1956.

Although i haven't sent for the death cert for JFP i would imagine his residence at the time of death could be 66 Richmond Road.

In the picture below are three children. The oldest is Mabel, born 1908 at 66 Richmond Road, the next child is Elsie, born in 1911 at 58 Sibthorpe St, she also had a twin brother who lived for three months and died at the address.

I hope MI doesn't mean motoring injuries, 'cause someone has knocked down a lump of cemetery wall with a motor vehicle !!

Hi Guys,
Thank you very much for all your hard work, sorry I haven't checked in to say thanks earlier but I had a computer malfunction which kept me off the net for a while. But I am back now and very grateful to all who helped with this thread.
