Difficulties with "Find Members" facility.
« on: Monday 31 March 08 19:44 BST (UK) »

Hi guys,

I think Rootschat or my machine has some sort of technical problem that I don't understand. I made several attempts yesterday and today to find a couple of RootsChatters using the "Find Members" facility through the link on New Messages and received the following reply ...

"We can't find the page you asked for. It could be that the page has moved, or has been renamed to something slightly different. It could also be that the address that you typed in was just a letter or so out out. Perhaps double check the address you typed in".

One of the Mods kindly moved my thread from the Common Room to the How to use RootsChat board where I received a couple of the replies but they didn't offer much in the way of solving the problem so that I can use all of RootsChat facilities. I hope I've better luck on this board. www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,295767.new.html#new

I think I suggested that the user name and the Rootschat name where different Christopher.

Hi Gadget,

Watch my lips carefully.

I can't enter any name into the Find Name facility as it's not popping up when I click on "Find name" on the New Message board. I get a message which says that I may have typed it incorrectly when I've not typed a name Sad

All I'm attempting to do is to get the board so that I can type in a name.

It's great up to the line showing ... Delete/outox/new msg/reload.

I go to new message and get ...

Find Members
Bcc:    (multiple recipients: 'name1, name2)

That's where the problems begin.

So, when you click on Find Member, you get that message?

OK - seems like you've got something corrupt there - not sure if it's your computer or what now . Do you keep logged in to RC or do you log off?

It might be worth checking all your settings - on your PC and your Roots settings.
