A dashing driver
« on: Wednesday 18 June 08 01:25 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone...this is one of the baby pics I have posted at some time, all grown up now in a lovely old brand-new, flash car. The person who emailed it to me says it was scanned at 600, but I don't think so....anyway, could someone please tidy it a bit?

Any thoughts on the car, or the year? What's that kind of baby gate thing on the runningboard?

Many thanks, everyone! Cheers,
China

Hiya, Caz, long time no see! Very nice tidies Caz, they're lovely, thank you very much. Looks much nicer.

I didn't think to mention to the person who sent them to scan in colour...didn't think to mention placing them flat on the scanner bed either...don't suppose it much matters tho Undecided

Cheers,

Hi China,

Am I right in assuming North America based on side the steering wheel is?  This would be key in deciding mak of car.

Year guess is 1928-1932.  Convertible/Roadster (Thank you Mr. Obvious!) and it appears to have a rumble seat.  The gate contraption is interesting:  I'm sure it wasn't used to carry small children on the runningboard. Grin    Do you know the driver's  occupation?

The gate would obviously swing out and extend, so it might be used  for some (as yet) unknown purpose while driving along a road.  In rural areas I have seen somewhat comparable devices used to hold trimmers to keep vegetation clipped.

Hi Nick! Yes, it's in Quebec. I have no idea what the driver did for a living...haven't found a marriage for him yet...I have posted this on the Common Room  as well...thanks for looking in...

How would he get out with that in the way of the door ?

Suspect that's a really dumb question  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

Didja see the link, Caz...it's for a very ingenious fold-up set of camping equipment that was designed to be packed on the runningboard...must have been good fun to get away from it all and still be able to eat at a civilised table Cheesy

Slightly off of subject...

It does amaze me , when people want to 'get back to nature' or 'go into the wilderness' , then say...

Right ! plug in the fridge , tv , stereo , cooking range , pc , inflate the three piece suite  etc.

They might as well stay at home and look at nature on tv.
