1700's Warwick/Budbrooke & Surrounds
« on: Wednesday 18 June 08 08:17 BST (UK) »

I've been appreciative of the assistance of WAR RootsChat members who have helped me to sort out a really confusing set of data for my BRICKNALL/BICKNELL family. It is now clear that my 4xGGF Daniel BICKNELL was born in 1768 Budbrooke, WAR, and by 1806 was in the Hull area, ERY to marry in 1806, lived both in Sunderland (1807) and Foston, ERY (1810-16), before returning to live in Hatton Green near Warwick & Budbrooke by 1817. He died there in 1833, and his wife in 1856. For the times, it seems the family travels were quite intrepid. I am assuming Daniel was a journeyman of some kind, but his career has not helped family history research! It has taken some 20 years to get the last generation sorted.

I have been unable to find references to fill out the family tree in the WAR area, and would appreciate any pointers to further family members:

1. I know Daniel's parents were John BRICKNALL/BICKNELL & Mary DUNING (possibly DUNNING) who married in 1767 Budbrooke. Daniel was born a few months later. I have not found any further children of this couple or their deaths. Based on Daniel's return to the village of Hatton, I am assuming the family does have roots in the villages in the immediate area of Warwick. (One anomaly in Hatton is the 1817/1819 marriage and baptism of a daughter Anne to a Daniel BICKNELS & his new wife Elizabeth COPLING. This suggests a possibly related namesake in the same village, but is not my family.)
2. Can anyone help with the parents (marriage/baptisma) of Mary DUNING and any siblings in the area?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I don't know if this is of much help -  from - NBI again.

Burial 10 October,1811 - John Bicknell - Budbrooke, St Michael Warwickshire.
No age given.
Georgina Maria bicknell - burial date 24 May 1834 - age - 10 years - Budbrooke, St Michael Warwickshire.
There is an Elizabeth Bicknell - buried 20 April 1836 - age 60 - Cubbington, St Mary, Warwickshire. I'm not too sure if this would be near to - Hatton & Budrooke.

Perhaps another RC will be able to help you.

Again, my thanks, Sarra.
John could well be the current head of family.

Regards.

Mark
I have replied about the Dunning connection but the post does not seem to have gone (or at least arrived).
I have a 1744 Mary Dunning unaccounted for. Details on my web site

Thanks for the info Richard. I have looked at your website.
I would like to clarify the 1744 Ansty entry you reported, which is not in your listed of DUNNINGs on your webpages. I assume, therefore, this is an unrelated entry to your family which you have noted anyway?
Ansty seems a little offset from Budbrooke, the parish my Ann married in (assuming to be her parish of residence).

Kind regards,
Mark
