Asquiths of Steeton
« on: Wednesday 18 June 08 21:36 BST (UK) »

Hello everyone!

I have got a bit stuck with some of my early relatives. I have a John Asquith who was born in Feb 1771 in Steeton who married Martha Lund in Kildwick in 1791. I am trying to trace the parents of this John (I think that it is another John Asquith who married a Mary (and I think she was Mary Smithson) in Wrawby, Lincolnshire in 1766. My reason for thinking this is that the Smithson name is carried down through later generations. Also I have found a John Asquith who worked as a Land agent for Mrs Ann Hudson (nee Currer) of Kildwick who had land holdings in Wrawby.
If anyone can help me with this - any information on Asquiths of Steeton/Kildwick before 1770 or indeed Mary Smithson. Was she a Lincolnshire lady or a Yorkshire lass!!!!!

regards
