Looking for the death of my g/grandfather Thomas Hall born c1860 at Sauchie, parents Edward Hall and Robina Sneddon.

Last known address in 1901 80 Johnston St Alva, he is with his father Edward, sister Janet her son Edward age 2, also his own daughter Robina age 17.

Nothing on GROS, so where do I go from here.

Hi Pat

The IGI has Thomas's birth (extracted) as 18th January 1861 Clackmannan, mother's maiden name spelled as SNADON. In fact it seems to vary for the birth of each child doesn't it!

Have you tried looking for MIs?

Thanks for the reply Kirsty, have tried all the spellings of Snadon etc and got nowhere.
Have no idea how to go about searching for MI's problem is I don't know if he died in Alva or not.

Hi Pat

Have you managed to find any other certificates to help you narrow down the window of time for Thomas Hall's death. His wife's death cert. for example would show if Thomas was alive or deceased at the time of her death. Also his children's marriage certs would also show this information.

Yes Kirsty have all that he ws alive when three of his daughters married, the last one Robina was with him in the 1901 census at 80 Johnston St Alva unmarried, cannot find a marriage for her she went under the name of Robina Snadon Hall ..took me ages to sort out as she had a cousin Robina Moir Hall.
Cannot find Thomas or Robina after 1901 unless of course he married again !! he would only have been in his forties in 1901 but have checked that out as well and no go.
Also he was living with his father Edward in 1901 and Edward died in 1903 Thomas informant on death cert.

There is a marriage showing in 1901 for a Robina Hall to a William L Kemp in ALVA - however, given that you know that Thomas was alive in 1903 when he reported his father's death, if it is the right marriage for Robina...it won't help you further with Thomas's death.

Yes Monica - That Robina was her cousin..Robina Moir Hall. As you say it does not help with Thomas's death. His wife Isabella Robertson died in 1890 and the daughters apart from Robina were brought up by relatives..I know it gets confusing. May have to wait for the 1911 census Roll Eyes

There are seven deaths showing on SP for a Thomas Hall b. 1862 +/- 2yrs from 1903....maybe someone could do a look up for you at New Register House or at least you know the 1911 is not now tooo far away!

Thanks for that Monica - funnily enough just received an e.mail from a "Cramb"cousin x5 who is going to Edinburgh next week so may get him to have a look for the death.
Must be my morning for e.mails, it's a bit chilly here in "sunny"Queensland, now need a 2nd cup of tea Grin

Robina died in 1905 aged 21 of Pleurisy, father still given as alive and informant was Arch'd Mitchell (uncle)

Hi Sancti - Oh my goodness never thought about her dying, was this info on Scotland's People, whereabouts did she die. My mother never mentioned it..wonder if she even knew.

Just checked on Scotland's People and cannot find a death in either Alva Stirling or Alva Clacks..do you have any further info..All the best Pat

1905 HALL ROBINA Female aged 21 at ALVA CLACKMANNAN

It someone can tell me how to do it I will send it to you

There is also an RCE with it that I have not viewed

Robina Hall Power Loom Weaver single died on 22 Feb 1905 at 10.50 am at 80 Johnstone Street Alva.

Parents given as Thomas Hall (cant make out his occ. looks like Woollen Worker) and Isabella m.s. Robertson deceased

Cause ofdeath was Pleurisy 2 days, Oedema of the lungs, acute 2 hours

Informant was Archie Mitchell (uncle) of 109 Stirling Street, Alva

Hi all - once again on the search.

Trying to find the Archibald Mitchell on Robina's death certificate..previous post by Sancti (thank you) the only way I can fit him in is he may have married Christina Moir Hall daughter of Robina Snaddon and Edward Hall..problem is I can find no marriage on either IGI or SP. On Ancestry there is a Archibald Mitchell married to a Christina in the 1901 census and they are at Alva..the birth dates are about right she in 1858 Alva and he is 1851 at Alva. But I can't find a MARRIAGE and it's driving me nuts Shocked

either that or it's just not my day...any help appreciated..patvp
