Unusual burial record.
« on: Thursday 19 June 08 12:00 BST (UK) »

Chatters,

I collect unusual things I notice in church records and I came across the following in Beverstone GLS Bishop's transcripts:-

"John Warren Gardener to Henry Stephens Esq're of Chavenage was buried Dec'br 1st 1787 "

The BT's of Beverstone do not often give more than a dozen or so entries in the 18th century and I suppose the curate Thomas Hornidge was glad he had something to report Cheesy

Regards

Chas

Am I being stupid ?

Why is that 'unusual' ... because they noted John Warren's occupation ?

Sorry ... as I say, maybe I'm just thick !

If you had looked at as many thousands of years' entries in BT's and PR's as I have, you would not have asked such a question.  Believe you me, it is very unusual especially in BT's which often miss thing written in PR's.

Hi Chas

Having done thousands also I see what you mean.  Smiley

I collect gravestones that are different and note ones where it says "Servant of"
or a dedication to a loyal member etc.

The sad ones are where it says An Unknown Man/Woman or a Stranger.

Makes you wonder who they belonged to.
