Lucky Black Cat ???

I am delighted to say the GRO turned up trumps delivering the correct certificate in less then 2 weeks - remembering that I am in Spain. And it was the right one - I'm always afraid I will have ordered the wrong one!
Susan B. 1807 of Hatley St George married William Webb B. 1810 of Gamlingay and from one birth certificate (of their youngest child Walter Webb B.1850) I have found her parents, her paternal grandparents and Great Grandparents and her maternal parents and Grandparents. True this is all from Family Search and Hugh Wallis but they are extracted records. One thing I cannot find is the marriage date of William Webb and Susannah(Susan on the later censuses) Garrett and wonder if anyone can help.
Also I am still looking for the marriage of: Emmanuel Garrett B. 1739 Little Paxton and Mary Pitts Great Gransden Jonathon Garrett and Mary Willis (Possibly Little Paxton)
Do hope someone can help, Thank you, Abiam

Hunts Marriage Index shows a 1770 marriage at Gt Gransden between Emanuel Garrett and Mary Pitts, so the member submission looks OK
Give us an idea as to when Jonathan Garrett and Mary Willis married

Good Morning David,
That's good, thank you. I haven't found anything else about Jonathan Garrett and Mary Willis except that their son Emmanuel was born in 1739 in Little Paxton. So, if he was the first child it could have been 1715/20 or much earlier if he was the last of say ten!
Regards, Abiam

Hi Abiam
There's nothing in Hunts Marriage Index 1701-1754 for a marriage of Jonathan Garrett. Out of curiosity, in the absence of a marriage how do you know he married Mary Willis? Emanuel's baptism on the BVRI doesn't even give a christian name for his mother (there was also a Sarah Garot, daughter of Johnathan Garot baptised on 5 Oct 1735). A Mary Garret married in 1751 in Lt Paxton. Might this have been Jonathan's widow?
Little Paxton is close to some of the Cambs villages; I wonder if he married there. There's a Jonathan Garret married Ann Eyson at Grantchester on 20 Oct 1726, but that's 16 miles away.

This is what I found on Family Search: Husband's name: Emmanuel Garrett (AFN:1H90-VDX)
Born: 1739 Place: Christened: 18 Nov 1739 Place: Little Paxton, Hunts. Buried: 12 Dec 1806 Place: Great Gransden, Hunts. Married: Place:
Father: Jonathan Garrett (AFN: 1H90-VHK) Mother: Mary Willis ditto
Although there is no marriage info. on this record as you and Annette found Emmanuel married 15 Nov. 1770 and they went on to have 8 children.
The Sarah Garot bap. 1735 could well be a sister of Emmanuel. I t would be useful to find Jonathan's burial date and if it was before 1751 'Mary' could well have married again. Also if Mary Willis is an error then Ann Eyson could be a possibility.
I think I am stuck! Regards, Abiam

Unless what's on the LDS site is extracted from a parish register I take everything with a large bucket of salt. With no marriage entry how can these databases on Ancestral File know that Jonathan Garrett married Mary Willis of Gt Barford Beds. He might have done, but I can see no evidence.
There's a burial of Johnathan Garot on 30 Apr 1744 at Lt Paxton.
I'll carry on looking for a marriage

That burial looks a good possibility for Jonathan to have remarried!
I suppose Jonathan could be wrong as well? I haven't looked much at these Ancestral Files and really don't know very much about them.
What is really of more interest to me is the marriage between William Webb and Susan Garrett around 1830. He was from Gamlingay, Susan from Hatley St George and their children were born in Abbotsley. Surely we ought to be able to find that somewhere? I mean because it is relatively recent.
Regards, Abiam PS where did you find Gt Barford?

Why didn't you ask?!!! Oh, you did, in amongst the small print.
They married in 1829 in Eynesbury Hunts. William of Abbotsley, Susan otp. You need to check the parish register for the exact date. Slightly odd there's no banns in Abbotsley PR
Their first child according to the 1851 census was born in Eynesbury, then the rest in Abbotsley. Baptisms in Abbotsley: 15 Jun 1834 Sarah, George, and Joseph, of William & Susan, labourer 20 Sept 1836 John son of William & Susan, labourer 17 Jul 1842 Eliza dau of William & Susan, labourer, ?buried 1 Mar 1851 age 7
Shout if you need anything else checking in Abbotsley - I have the PR transcript
Both Ancestral File and Pedigree Resource File entries are made by members of the LDS church and are very unreliable. Everything in them needs checking, particularly when there's no date or place mentioned. The Great Barford reference is against the Mary Willis entry.
The Johnathan bit is right - the baptisms of Sarah and Emanuel are on the BVRI.
Mary Garrett's marriage in 1751 was to George Bass. A Gorge Bass was buried in Lt Paxton on 28 Jan 1763, but I can't trace what happened to Mary. But if she was Mary widow of Jonathan then it does seem as though the LDS is at least half right.

A good afternoon indeed!
And to go a bit further the deaths of William and Susan would be great!
I think I'll let the elders RIP as I cannot prove them.
Thanks, David
