I`m trying to find Charles Reekie born between 1896 to 1908 in Newcastle farther name is John Reekie born 1867 , mother Margaret Peebles Robertson ( Reekie ) , John and Margaret went to in 1895 from Scotland other children are Jean and John or William. They went back to Scotland in 1908. Could some please help me find them .

How accurate is your Engli9sh geography ?

No sign of any of the mentioned Reekie folk in Northumberland on Census 1901 or registered BMDs.

Also no sign on Census 1901 for County Durham.

However a birth for a Charles Reekie was registered in the September Quarter of 1902 in the registration district of Sunderland (within County Durham)

On Census 1901 in Sunderland there was a family of Reekie from Scotland, headed by George and Margaret.

What is the source of your Newcastle context ?

my geography not so good , I was told they went to Newcastle in England this could be them . from some other thing I have the George and Margaret like I said could be

There are many sites, with differing bits of info. You will have to be specific with what info you are after.  I copied that Census website.

I can't give you a comprehensive methodology of family research here.

But in brief, many researchers rely on three main sources...

*Civil Registrations of Births, Marriages and Deaths (started in England and Wales on 1st July 1837.

*Church records, including baptisms, marriages and burials

* Censuses (1841-1901 at 10 yrly intervals)


And there are several web sites, both free and non-free, providing info on the above.

Additionally, message boards such as Rootschat exist to help others, who for various reasons cannot find the info they seek.  (You seekie Reekie LOL)


(I got the 1901 Census details for Reekie family from Ancestry web site)


Should you not be looking into Scotland's records for your Reekie family?
