The coat has quite a few creases around the elbow areas (where they bend in)
so it can't be particularly thick.
So maybe a skin rather than a fur ... erm ... does that make sense ?  Undecided  Undecided

I know exactly what I mean  Roll Eyes  Grin  Grin

Hi Rachel

So you think it came from a thin skinned animal  Huh Huh
I'm a bit thick this morning so don't really understand what you mean. Roll Eyes

 Grin Hi Joy
I'm in agreement with Woodentop  Smiley not an animal with thick fur, something more sleek

and I'm agreeing with Jim and Rachel... a short haired fur... hangs very similar to Beaver or Seal.

Beaver has a two-layer coat...the outer hairs are long, but the undercoat is short and dense and waterproof. If the long hair are sheared, you get a short-nap look to the fur.

But otoh, there's always rabbit. My mother had a black fur coat that was soooo soft, I loved running my hand over it. I found out years later it was dyed rabbit Tongue

There's also nutria, but I think it's a South American animal imported later, and farmed not trapped.

Well thanks eveyone.  I haven't got a clue about furs, or skins come to that!! lol.

I'm still not sure what the precise difference between a skin and a fur is.  I assumed all fur had skin to hold the hairs on. Huh

You are right Chrissi. But not all skin has fur on it (we don't for example). Cut the fur off (or make very short)and you have a skin.
