Hi,
I’m in need of some help and another pair of eyes with yet another brick wall my research has thrown up. I trying to go sideways to go forward so to speak!
I’m looking for a William Fredrick Staples / Stables. William is my G Grandfathers James Staples brother. William was born in 1867 in St George in the East.
He is one of 4 children that we know of: Mary Ann Staples 1863, William Frederick 1867, James 1869 and George Drummond Jnr 1873.
Williams Father was a George Drummond Stables (Seaman in the Merchant Service born Aberdeen circa 1829) mother Mary Ann Barrett born “as a rough guess” 1841 we think in St George in the East, her Father was a James Barrett and we believe she had a brother James Barrett. "We have no more details of Mary Ann Barrett apart from her death which gave us no more information"
George Stables and Mary Barrett pop up on the 1871 Census with George for a strange reason giving the name John. Although at the time George & Mary are not married so maybe that’s the reasoning for the false details. They marry in the Red Church Bethnal Green in 1873.
I have traced William to 25 Denmark Street in the 1891 Census but no trace in 1881 or 1901. I cannot find a marriage or a Death either 1891 onward.
Any help would be hugely appreciated
Thanks
Paul
