Hi , I am new to this site, am hoping someone can help me go in the right direction. I am searching on behalf of an elderly friend for a gentleman called Edward Stroud, who was born approx 1918 , possibly in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. He had a sister called Evelyn. He was in the Royal Horseguards prior to the war and may have gone into intelligence during the war. My friend does not know whether he survived the war, and she lost touch when she emigrated. Can anyone help? thankyou, hcq
Hi Welcome to rootschat. It is possible that the people you mention are still alive so we need to be wary about what we post. However, if you look at either the www.FreeBMD.org.uk site or www.ancestry.co.uk you might well find that the birth (and possibly death) for Edward have been indexed. If they are not on the free sites then somone who has access may be able to look them up on the full BMD index. The www.cwgc.org site will show him if he died in the war. Andrea
