George Rowe 1823 Uttoxeter

Hi there,  please can someone help me. George Rowe, christened 19 Jan 1823 in Uttoxeter, parents William Roe b.1797 Snelston, Derbys and mother maria b. Doveridge, Derbys c.1796

They married 23 dec 1817 in Snelston but in the IGI there are two different entries with two different surnames for Maria, Severn and Spencer and I would like to know which is correct

Welcome to Rootschat!

I got confused there and was looking for a George married to a Maria - wondered why I couldnt find it

The Maria Severn is probably the correct one as it is extracted from the parish record. The Maria Spencer entry has been submitted by someone else and may not be correct

The only way to be completely certain though is to look at the original parish record

Hi willow

Thanks for your help, I was 90% certain Severn was the correct name but the reference to Spencer got me a little confused.

As i'm quite new to this i hadn't realised that Severn had come from the parish register. If she is confirmed as my 4xgreat grandmother then she also appears in another rootchatter's family tree which goes back to 1600!!!!
