Manor records for Sidcup Place
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 03:47 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone know if Manor records exist in Kent?  I am interested, in particular, in Sidcup Place which is by St. Marys Cray, Kevington.  The owner, Richard Berens Esq. was the employer of my g-g grandmother (1840 -1849)and it would be interesting to see what records exist pertaining to her employment.

Thanks.

Hi,
Sidcup Place is in Sidcup, Kent, not St Mary Cray.

You will need to access the local records offcices at Bexleyheath to see what documents are still held.
http://archives.bexley.gov.uk/default.aspx
If you search around the site, you can locate a photograph of the house from the gardens.

For details of the structure of the house visit the images of england site (number 442132), which mentions that Berens owned the house from 1822.

Hope this helps
