Richard Berens - All Souls College
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 04:02 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to find a photograph of Richard Berens, Esq. D.C.L. who was a prominent Fellow and Bursar at All Souls College, Oxford in the early to mid 1800's.  I know that many photos exist as I found a quote in Gentlemans Magazine 1849 that stated 'his portrait has been exhibited at the Royal Academy'.
Can anyone help?

Hi Carol

3 Portraits are referenced here, all by  artist Samuel William Reynolds:
http://www.npg.org.uk/live/search/person.asp?LinkID=mp87286

But the images are not (yet?) available online - it says the database of portraits is continually being updated (lastly in Jun 2008)

Cheers

Carol -

I recommend asking the librarian of the college codrington.library@all-souls.ox.ac.uk

She's very knowledgeable & helpful.
