Looking for George Marshall
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 06:25 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I am looking for George Marshall possibly born in Surrey around 1820. He married Elizabeth Billings March 05 1843 and his father was also George Marshall. I have him on the 1851,61 and 71 census's but I am really stuck trying to find any trace before his marriage.  Can anyone help Please.

Hello

I think that George Marshall from Ashe married a Emily Cheesman 1843 They are on the 1871 census at Ashe

George Christopher Marshall married Elizabeth Billings 1843 Hackney

What are the census pages and Folios you have for George?

Hi Pam
I have him on the 1851 census Ref. HO 107 1553 I am not sure of the page it has 611 and 8 but nothing that says page no.  He is at 26 York St in Borough of Tower Hamlet.
1861 census I have RG /155 page 23 still in Tower Hamlet but at 13 Elizabeth St. The only ref. I have for 1871 is page 23 still at 13 Elizabeth St in Hackney. I don't know if this will help. I really seem to  have lost George before this.

In 1841 there are two George Marshalls in the same household at Hatton Gardens, St Andrews Holborn, one age 20 the other 45. Can't make out the occupations but they are probably something medical as others in the house are surgeons and druggists. Neither are born in county.

HO107; Piece 671; Book: 7; Civil Parish: St Andrew Holborn (Above The Bars); County: Middlesex; Enumeration District: 7; Folio: 24; Page: 40
