catchpole
« on: Monday 23 June 08 05:08 BST (UK) »

Henry Catchpole and Mary Ann Thew were marriedin 1864 and lived in Tynemouth. I only have names of two of their children, William born1867 and Ann born in 1875.
I would like to find if any other children were born to them and ideally find more relatives.
Thanks.

I'm having real troubles finding this family - can't see the marriage, the only Ann b. 1875 in Tynemouth is Ann Amelia (died young), and the only William of the right age is the son of (or is listed as the son of in the censuses) Ellen, who may be Ellen Stevenson m. William Catchpole in Tynemouth district in 1862.

There is a marriage in 1870 for Henry Catchpole/Mary Ann Pattison. With a Patterson family in 1871 there is a William Patterson, aged 8, and a Mary Ann Catchbolt (??). By 1881, there is a widowed Esther Catchpole with son William, 15, and son Thomas Patterson Catchpole, 5.

Before I get myself entirely tied into a know, what records do you have for this family - the births of either of the children? later censuses/marriages for the children? Do you have Henry Catchpole's occupation?

Okay - shifting to other thread, as it has the later censuses.

Thank you everybody who has sent information about Henry and Mary Ann catchpole.
Henry was born in Yarmouth Norfolk ,was a seaman and married Mary Ann Thew in 1863 and their son william was born in 1864 (sorry I put in the wrong date). Mary Ann was born in 1843 ,I believe that Henry was of a similar age.
I found several children on the Free BMD's for the right birth years in Tyneside but the records don't give parents names.
Information for the birth of William was given to me by another family researcher  and the birth of Ann Amelia was found in the british vital Records.
In the 1881 census Mary Ann Catchpole is still living in Tynemouth,5 Smith Place. I don't suppose that address would be there now.

Thanks,
Lynne
