Hi, just started, trying to trace my father "Ronald James Grundy" ancestors, he was Australian and died when i was 17, dont have much information. i know that his fathers name was Lance Leslie Grundy and they came from New South Wales, Australia. Can any one check Ancestry.com for me. I know that my father was was born around 1913 and if i can find some kind of record i can start from there.

Hi Luna Welcome to RootsChat. You have joined a great site where many wonderful people go out of their way to help.
I've just checked the NSW BDM
www.bdm.nsw.gov.au and found a death as follows -
12608/1965, Lance Lesley GRUNDY, father Frederick, mother Emily, district Newcastle.
This could be your grandfather. Hope this helps and happy hunting. Regards Jan

Hi Luna
Checked Ancestry and the only records I could find are electrol (not expert in Oz FH) Perhaps it would be better to put Oz in you thread title, or post on the Australia board for those with a more wider knowledge, that may help.
Electrol info...
Year 1930. NSW - State: Botany - District: Cook - Subdistrict: Mascot 2428 Grundy Frederick Sidney Lucklow, King Street, occ. Labourer, M (male) 2429 Grundy Lance Leslie Lucklow, King Street, occ. Labourer, M
Year 1936. NSW - State: Botany - District: Cook - Subdistrict: Mascot 2628 Grundy Lance Leslie, 57 Maloney Street, occ. Labourer, M
Year 1936. NSW - State: Glebe - District: West Sydney - Subdistrict: Pyrmont 1117 Grundy Ronald James 131 Pyrmont Street, occ. Waiter, M
There is also this marriage from the link given above 10713/1913 GRUNDY LANCE L - HOLLAND DOROTHEA district PADDINGTON
Searched google for Botany cems and came up with this link. There are seven 'Grundy' buried here a Frederick Sidney age 47 among them, also buried with him is 'Emily', who died in 1904, Looks like Fred Sidney was possibly brother to Lance, and maybe buried with mother?

This looks like a useful link

Hope this helps some
Good luck

Ancestry is not the best for Australian records.
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch.aspx - look here for Lance Grundy's WWI records. He was born 7 Aug 1892 in NSW. At the time he signed up (1918) he was a widower. His children are listed - Leslie William, Ronald James, and Dorothy Mary) . His next of kin was his sister, Mrs Maud Bennett. A physical description is also given.
His brother, Stephen Manning Grundy's records are also on the same site.
Another good site is: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/
If you look at the site Jan provided, there are lots of BMD records for this family. I can see the births of six children to Frederick and Emily, one of whom died young, the marriage of Frederick to Emily in 1880, and not just one but two marriages for Lance.

Was quite suprised there are not a lot of census info available, correct me if wrong Jorose...wish freebmd had the same parent info as the link above, you can gleen a lot from it, makes it so much easier to match family.
Brother Stephen also married Nora J Holland who I think is possibly the sister of Dorothea/Dorothy. She is buried in same cem, link as above
There is also a death for Dorothy Grundy, but do not know if she is the same
Deaths: 12061/1944 GRUNDY NORA JOSEPHINE parents JAMES & ANN district PETERSHAM 8715/1918 GRUNDY DOROTHY B parents JAMES & ANN district SYDNEY
Electrol Seems to only have 1930 & 1936
Year 1936. NSW, State: Arncliffe, District Lang 3678 Grundy Leslie William 42 Richard Street, occ. Machinist, M
Think sister is Evelyn Maud(e) from BMD married Herbert Bennett 1902. also buried in above cem (see link)

Looks like the Hollands were a Catholic family.....Dorothy B Grundy is buried in Rookwood - do a deceased search, there is also another buried with her died 1916, think it could possibly be a child 'Francis S Grundy' (see link)
http://www.catholiccemeteries.org.au/
There is also quite a few resources on the Australian board, if you wish to order any certs, there is stuff concerning transciption agents that maybe less expensive. NSW Births after 1907. Also other Rootschatters are offering full transcriptions of Rookwood and photographs of headstones etc
Worth a look

Hi
I have had a look at the Rookwood disk, sorry to say nothing for GRUNDY Ronald, Lance, Frederick, Dorothy, Dorothea, Stephen, Nora or Leslie and nothing for Evelyn with a husband Herbert BENNETT
The Disk only records headstone details so they could be at Rookwood without a headstone
Good Luck Cass
