Annuity Records at Kew
« on: Monday 23 June 08 19:40 BST (UK) »

According to Some Sources for Historians of Cornish Families the Public Record Office at Kew has annuity records from the 17th and 18th century.  According to this, there is available "Unique information about mainly middle class families, age, status, parentage, etc."

Has anyone ever looked at this type of records?  I have ancestors who were living in London in the 19th century who are listed on the census as "Annuitants" or "Fundholders."  They came from Cornish mining families and the story passed down is that they owned mining stock.  They were not wealthy--I suspect that they were barely hanging on to middle class status.

Any idea if these records are worth pursuing?
