WOW  Grin

I am so pleased with all this information.  The dedication to the parentage of my OH's gr gr grandfather is greatly appreciated.

Newfster - thanks for your brilliant find for the 1861 Census.  It was the only one we have no record of him and now I know it's because he was going under his stepfather's surname.  It also tells us how he ended up in Yorkshire from Norfolk.  He also followed his stepfather into the brickmaking trade, ending up Manager of a brickworks in Burton on Trent.

Good to get closure  Smiley

I usually go for the stepfather name scenario fairly quickly - but it took Tati's brilliant leap and Sue's finds to realize that Elizabeth Davy was his Mum anyway !

I kinda suspected he was already in Yorkshire, and sure enough they were.

 Cool
